The beauty of Art by Pat Obilor

Image
Art in all its forms including literature, poetry, music, role playing, dance and Photography etc is not just about expressing oneself or capturing moments. It is also about reaching into your core to expressing your inner desires, and what your soul feels, as you copulate your feelings in the present and your hope for tomorrow. It is the ability to create a beautiful and mesmerising effect for anyone who sees and experience it.   It is to convey one’s feelings and thoughts in the most sublime way possible. Thus, in the art of photography, a good picture can make you remember your past, set new goals or romanticise about your impending future. When I do Photoshoots or take pictures, I hope that it expresses most part of me that makes up my life and my intentions for living and I want to share that dreamy image with anyone who sees it, to build a priceless and special connection that cannot be quantified or watered down. Hence, the rewards of a true creative is not about mone...

Pat Obilor’s Celebrate Me Now” Annual August Birthday campaign

Image
August Celebrity Birthday   Hello Fam, welcome to the prestigious August! My month of birth!💃 AND Welcome to my annual social love campaign tagged: ‘Celebrate Me Now’. My name is Pat Obilor, the creative lead for the ‘Celebrate Me Now’ challenge which was launched in August 2020 to inspire us all, to celebrate one another while alive. I know we all have our personal struggles and life can be too demanding of our time and resources but still, we tend to be unavailable, less bothered about people that matter until they are gone or until we know they will die soon... When this happens, suddenly, we remember the good they did for us, the smiles they gave us, the recommendations and opportunities they introduced to us... etc.  We begin to bring out pictures and videos of the phenomenal things they did while on earth and try to hide the fact that we did not care or appreciate them enough. While it is not wrong to give accolades to the dead and let the world know how important they ...

I will be happy when I finish school! I will be happy when I graduate! I will be happy when I get married! I will be happy when my Kids are grown! I will be happy when my business starts making sales! I will be happy when they forgive me! I will be happy when I get new clothes! I will be happy when I become a father I will be happy when I get the award!  I will be happy when I get a visa and relocate!  I will be happy when I get a new job! I will be happy when I become a Mother!  I will be happy when I lose weight!  I will be happy when I save the world!  Then Boom, while waiting for “Your Happy”… depression or Sickness sets in, your health takes a downturn and you lose out on the little reasons that would have made you Happy and then you retire and Die! #riptoyourhappiness.  The arrival fallacy is the illusion that joy lies in the unknown destination ahead.  BE HAPPY NOW! Your happiness is in the moment, not a destination.  This post was in...

Ai is not Art! - By Pat Obilor

I could also title this, “ AI and ML invasion… the art of inorganic evolution in our world.” Let’s dive in…   These days, It is almost guilty to wake up, and say “Good morning beautiful people” and not say, “Hello AI”, or Hi Avatar”, because they are becoming us and we are obliged to embrace them.  Have you ever used a piece of technology and said, “thank you” after using it? You deemed it fit because it optimised your work and also met you on a human level… very magical right?  It is not news that, Artificial intelligence and machine learning et al have penetrated the world systems and will probably dominate every administrative and knowledge sector in almost every human profession you can think of. From the minute excellence of a fine photographer to the delicate focus of a trained doctor, AI and ML has come to stay to either enhance your work with you there, or to simply take your titles.  One of the reasons these innovations has gained fastest intrusion int...

Ethical Content Creation by Pat Obilor

Image
It is important to mind our intentions in addressing various topics and messages responsibly to promote positive and ethical practices in our society. Social media is now the global dance floor for almost all forms expressions, and a conscious decent approach to sharing our thoughts and contents now, and for future generations is important. So for today, I will be calling on content creators, service providers, pastoral leaders and the general Netizens.  To content creators: Being mindful of the content we create and promote is crucial. It's essential to consider the impact our content may have on others and avoid exploiting or objectifying individuals. For instance, stop promoting nudity and using women as tools for jokes and memes to sell or for traffic. Stop glamorising toxic behaviours by using human angle stories in the most demoralising manner to optimise your creativity. Instead, let's focus on creating content that is respectful, inclusive, and promotes healthy values. ...

Mental Health Check

Image
… It is good to be MAD! to Make A Difference in the Acronymous way only.  The other description of being M*D, is not what you wish for anyone. These days, everyone seems to be alright outwardly but the fact is, even those whom we perceive as sane might harbor hidden struggles of mental imbalances. It's a disheartening reality that many people in developed countries battle mental instability. The deceptive nature lies in their outward appearance so you don’t even notice.  They dress well and present themselves as clean and topnotch until you interact with them.  This is in stark contrast, to Africa, where identifying mentally distressed individuals becomes comparatively easier as they often appear unkempt and vocalize their thoughts incoherently. Some recorded cases of m*dness often trace back to social and financial hardships, including profound loneliness, breakfast from heartbreak, suffocating debt, and the distress of unemployment. The relentless burden of compou...
